What is FSC Certification?

       The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a stakeholder-owned system that promotes responsible global forest management. It provides standard-setting, trademark assurance, accreditation services and market access to companies and organizations interested in responsible forests. As of January 2006, the FSC has recognized 15 certification bodies, and certified companies have the right to use the FSC logo.

       The global forest problem is becoming more and more prominent: the forest area is decreasing, and the forest degradation is increasing. Forest resources are declining in quantity (area) and quality (ecosystem diversity), and some consumers in Europe and the United States refuse to buy wood products without proof of legal origin.

FSC certification process Steps

Step 1, Apply for certification (preliminary negotiation)

Step 5. Authentication report

On the basis of the FSC assessment, the certifying party forms a report. The report either finds the assessment satisfactory or identifies areas of deficiency that need to be improved. The report will be sent directly to the Certification Decision Committee for final evaluation.

Step 6. Certificate and registration

If all the steps of the evaluation are positive, the company will be awarded a certificate of certification. You can also require the enterprise to have some non-conforming rectification, when the enterprise rectification is completed to pass the certification conclusion.

Step 7 Manage certificate evaluation

Every other year after the issuance of the FSC certificate, the certification body will conduct an on-site audit of the certified enterprise in order to check the implementation of the conditions defined in the report. Records, input-output control, and the use of FSC marks were the main aspects of the audit.

FM is the certification of the forest management of the enterprise, while COC is the certification of the entire chain from log transportation, processing, circulation to consumer evaluation.
